Pavillion of Wings

June 5, 2007

Today’s playgroup was a success in so many ways.  To begin with, it was the first time in months we had more than three families represented, in fact, we doubled that!  It was also a success as everyone left happy and tired, long after our usual departure time. We went to the free day at the Natural History Museum and caught the Butterfly Pavillion of Wings.  We played around in the discovery room until lunch and our timed entry to the pavillion.  (Btw, as Jen and I were both stuck with no food in the house we swung by Whole Foods on the way down and picked up the kids lunchbox things — one box filled both Little Red and me!)  6507_24-small-file.jpg

The butterflies were so cool.  The kids were entranced; at first hyper, but as we explained that if they were still the butterflies may land on them, they calmed down.  (As it turned out I was a landing spot twice, and the kids thought that was pretty cool.)  The butterflies were very obliging models:6507_14-small-file.jpg

My favourite butterfly:

I think the kids had fun, too.  (For those of you who don’t know us in real life, I challenge you to guess which child is Little Red!  haha)
