Early Bird is an even more contented baby than was Little Red. He does have an evening freakout on a regular basis, however. The other night my friend and I were talking about it and spewing theories. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it since.
Early Bird cluster feeds in the evening, as did Little Red, and several of our little friends. (Cluster feeding is several feedings closer together than the normal schedule, for example, every hour from 7-10, as Little Red did.) Deb suggested that the evening fussiness, called the Grandmother’s Hour and a widespread behaviour, might be due to heavy digestion. I had previously theorized that it was due to overstimulation, missing Daddy, and/or being tired. Heavy digestion seems to make sense, as my babies cluster feed after the fussy period, and then sleep deeply.
Does this make sense to anyone other than me?
