Last Night

Last night once the boys were both down (Guy Smiley — 10pm, Captain Underpants — probably not till 9:30) I got so much done!  I made my first ever loaf of brown bread (pardon me, whole wheat) and I cleaned up the kitchen.  I picked up the toys in the living room.  I got some things organized and a present wrapped.  I even got to see the Late Show with David Letterman and Late Night with Conan O’Brien.  It was amazing how much I got done!  “Wow,” I thought, “I should stay up until 1 a.m. more often!”

No.  No I should not.

I always found the nights I stayed up (TV, sewing, etc.) was always the night one of the kids got sick, have a nightmare or something that would keep them up most of the night. It never failed. No joke! I would just get to bed and within minutes someone was crying,

That’s the way it often is here, too. I got lucky on Friday night, but I know better than to push my luck and try it again.

If I stay up past 11pm I always pay for it the next day! The kids always wake up at exactly 6:30, regardless of what time I went to bed! 1am–ouch! 🙂

I try to go to bed at 10 every night. Friday was a major exception to the rule. It’ll be a long time before that happens again.

I am in the same boat as Feather Sky. If I stay up past 10:30, I am in trouble! Man I feel old. Gone are the days of college where I could stay up till 2, then get up for class at 7…

I tried that in college — I couldn’t do it even then!

Oh, i LOVE staying up “late” (until midnight that is. Otherwise, yes, I’m wasted the next day). I mostly just love the nights where I have energy from 10p-12am to do stuff. It doesn’t happen all the time. But when it does, my husband calls me a busy body and says I should come sit down. No way! This is my only time for uninterupted projects.

My husband is the same way!

“Brown bread” — I didn’t bat an eye. Heh. It’s a Canadian thing.

I knew you would understand. 🙂

Late evenings are so productive! It’s so weird. And I agree with what Dana said. That’s how I feel most of the time.
