Guilty Pleasures

For some it’s “The National Enquirer” and for some it’s the celebrity tabloids. I read the real estate booklets.

I had been on hiatus for a few months, but picked up a “Homes & Land” on my way out of Blockbuster this weekend, after all, the prices out here really are going down.

For those of you who do not live here I will share with you two of my favourite listings :

2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, $525,000

(note: there is no such thing as a big lot in the city.)

Affordable 2 BR, 2BA home PLUS bonus room & storage room. Move in condition. New carpet & Pergo floors. Copper plumbing. Bonus room has separate entrance. Recently painted interior. corner lot has 2 driveways. A LOT OF LIVING AREA FOR $419,900!

(note: there’s a reason the listing does not specify location, from the picture I can tell you definitively it’s down in LA, and it’s only move-in ready because it’s clean — it needs a lot of updating.)

  1. That is a guilty pleasure to enjoy. When we were renting we did the same thing, sometimes we’d sit on the couch and draw our dream house floorplan. We still have a few of those sketches lying around. 🙂

    You gotta have a dream!

  2. I have watched “Flip This House” (or whatever it’s called) and been absolutely amazed at what it says about the market in the area where you live. It’s scary.
